Online24jam, Jakarta, – The Head of the Makassar Fire and Rescue Department (Damkarmat), Hasanuddin, was elected as the Chairman of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Indonesian Firefighter Association (APKARI) for the 2024-2028 term.
The election took place at the closing of the APKARI Working Meeting held at the Orchad Jayakarta Hotel, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/10/2024).
After going through a series of processes including candidate debates and presentation of vision and mission, Hasanuddin won the most votes, replacing Drs. Satriadi Gunawan who previously served as the Chairman of the DPP APKARI for the 2020-2024 term.
In his first speech after being elected, Hasanuddin expressed gratitude and thanks to all association members who have entrusted him.
“I am committed to bringing APKARI towards a more professional direction in serving the community, as well as enhancing synergy with various related parties throughout Indonesia,” he said.
During his tenure, Hasanuddin plans to strengthen operational standardization in firefighting and rescue in Indonesia.
“The importance of more efficient fire handling requires full support from all stakeholders, both in terms of human resources and technology,” he explained.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of continuous education and training for all firefighters.
“Not only dealing with fires, firefighters must also have skills in rescue and other disaster mitigation,” he added.
It is known that this Working Meeting also discussed operational standardization and resource management in firefighting throughout Indonesia, which is one of the main priorities of APKARI.
