The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) made history on Monday morning (14 July) by leading France’s prestigious Bastille Day military parade along the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris. This marked a significant moment in the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, as TNI troops were honored as the lead contingent for the first time, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The TNI soldiers, totaling 260, along with 189 members of the combined military marching band, delivered a precise, spirited, and vibrant performance during the parade. Dressed in ceremonial uniforms featuring symbols like tigers, eagles, sharks, and seals, each emblem represented the identity and pride of Indonesia’s armed service branches. The enthusiastic applause from the spectators, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Kuwait, highlighted the success of the Indonesian contingent.
International media outlets, such as BFMTV, TV5 Monde, Ouest France, and L’Union, covered the event extensively, emphasizing Indonesia’s honored role in the parade.
