On July 30, 2025, emotions overflowed in Serdang Bedagai as Aslina shared her transformative journey. Working at the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cempedak Lobang, Sei Rampah, just a stone’s throw away from her home, she expressed her appreciation for the life-changing program. Standing alongside regional leaders like Hasan Nasbi and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Aslina tearfully extended her gratitude to the President for the positive impact on her daily life.
Prior to her participation in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Aslina was a full-time homemaker with no source of income while her husband earned a limited income as a laborer. Now, she plays a role in preparing nutritious meals for school children in her community, bringing a new sense of hope to her life. Normawati, another participant, also emphasized how the opportunity to earn extra income close to home has been crucial in supporting her family, especially her children who benefit from the nutritious meals provided by the MBG program.
The influence of the program goes beyond impacting housewives, as demonstrated by the story of 21-year-old Shinta Ramadana. Previously unemployed, she now engages in food preparation with enthusiasm, embodying the empowerment spirit fostered by the MBG Program. These women represent the many individuals nationwide who have discovered employment opportunities and newfound hope through the initiative, as per data from the National Nutrition Agency.
In addition to offering nutritious meals, the MBG Program signifies empowerment and transformation. It has transformed kitchens into spaces of hope, where individuals like Aslina, Norma, and Shinta have found opportunities for meaningful work and personal development.
